You will need the Sybase 8.0.2 CD, supplied with your SuccessMaker Enterprise installation pack. If you have SuccessMaker Enterprise already installed, please ensure you stop the current Sybase service if it is still running, then make a full backup of the whole SME folder at the server before continuing. Procedure Installing Sybase on Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 1. At your Server, insert the Sybase 8.0.2 CD into your CD ROM drive. After a short time the installation process will normally start automatically and load the introduction screen. If not, click the Windows Start button and click Run and type D:\demo32 (where 'D:' is the drive letter of your CD ROM drive). Click OK. 2. Click Sybase 8.0.2.3601 for Microsoft Windows. 3. At the Welcome screen, click Next. 4. Accept the License Agreement and click Next. 5. Enter DEPCAAQQREAM8246021007166 into the Key field and click Next. 6. At the Choose Location screen, verify that the default path shown is C:\Program Files\Sybase\SQL Anywhere 8 and then click Next. 7. At the Choose Shared Components Location screen, verify that the default path shown is C:\Program Files\Sybase\Shared and then click Next. 8. At the Select Components screen, clear the tick boxes for UltraLite development components and all MobiLink components and then click Next. 9. At the Server License screen, ensure that the number of Licensed Seats is 1000 and that the Network Seat (per-seat) model option is selected. Click Next. 10. Accept the default settings at the Select Program Folder screen and click Next. 11. Click Next at the Start Copying Files screen to run the installation program. 12. When the setup is complete, the Select Components (Documentation Setup) screen displays. Select English Online Documentation (HTML) and click Next. 13. Click Next at the Start Copying Files (Documentation Setup) screen to install your chosen components. 14. At the Setup Complete screen, clear the Read Me file and iAnywhere Online Resources tick boxes, then click Finish. 15. At the InstallShield Wizard Complete screen, select No, I will restart my computer later and then click Finish. 16. Remove the Sybase 8.0.2 CD and store it safely. Disabling the Sybase 6.0.4 Service If you have previously run an SME service on your server, you will need to disable your previous Sybase service. If not, continue to Applying the Sybase EBF Patch. 1. At the Server, click the Start menu and select Programs>Sybase>Sybase Central. 2. Click Services. 3. Highlight the current Sybase 6 SME Service (it should be called SME), right-click and choose Properties. 4. Press Delete to remove your current Sybase 6 database service and click Yes when prompted. 5. Close Sybase Central. Applying the Sybase EBF Patch You will now run a setup program to apply the Sybase EBF 4339 patch. 1. Insert the SuccessMaker Enterprise V1.3 System CD into your Server's CD ROM drive. 2. Click the Start button and click Run. Type D:\Sybase4339\Windows\Setup.exe (where 'D:' is the drive letter for your CD ROM drive). Click OK. 3. At the Welcome screen, click Next. 4. Accept the License Agreement and click Next. 5. At the Choose Location screen, verify that the path shown is C:\Program Files\Sybase\SQL Anywhere 8 and then click Next. 6. At the Choose Shared Components Location screen, verify that the default path shown is C:\Program Files\Sybase\Shared and then click Next. 7. Accept the default settings at the Select Components screen and click Next. 8. Click Next to start copying files. 9. At the Setup Complete screen, clear the View the Read Me file tick box, then click Finish. Configuring the Sybase 8.0.2 Service 1. At your Server, click the Start menu and select Programs>SybaseSQL Anywhere 8>Sybase Central. The Services - Sybase Central screen will display. 2. Highlight the Services folder in the left hand pane and double-click Add Service in the right hand pane. The Create a New Service screen will display. 3. Type SME for the name of your new Sybase service and click Next. A list of service options will display. 4. Select Network Database Server and click Next. 5. Accept the default path shown and click Next. 6. Enter the following Parameters: -n SME -x tcpip Y:\SME\ResultsManager\SuccessMaker\Database\sme.db. (where Y is the drive where your SME folder is located). 7. Click Next. 8. Ensure that the Local system account option is selected and click Next. 9. Select Automatic as your startup option and click Next. 10. To start the service, select the Start the service now tick box and click Finish. 11. Ensure that the Status column in the right hand pane indicates that the service is running and close the window.
